Happy New Year!!! With a New year, there are always New things to try.  I wanted to discuss a common question about  blush.  When doing a Make Up Application, Clients never hesitate to tell me that Blush is not for them.  When I ask, “Have you ever tried to wear Blush?”, and they usually say no.  Well, of course,any women would think you cannot wear blush if you never tried it on, or had a bad experience with applying blush!!!  I wanted to take some time to extend some information on wearing  blush, and I hope I can inspire you to try….

Ladies, before I get into how to  apply blush, I would like to share with you the various types of blush that is on the market today.

Creme Blush:   Creme Blush is a creamy, dewy finish.  I get the best finish when applied with my fingers or sponge…

Liquid Blush: Liquid Blush is very sheer. It usually gives a flushed finish. When using liquid blush, try to apply product quickly on the cheeks and blend. Liquid Blush dries very quickly..

Powder Blush: Powder Blush is one of my favorites, because it works on all skin types. It can be applied with a sponge, for a more intense look, or with a Blush/Powder brush for more of a soft, natural look.

Ladies, I recommended the type of foundation to use for your skin type, but I thought knowing what your skin type is can assist you a little more in finding the right foundation for you. Below is a brief description….

Dry Skin is usually rough skin that tends to have scales and can be flaky. It is recommended to apply a hydrating cream before the use of foundation.

Oily Skin is shiny, thick and dull colored. Often a chronically oily skin has coarse pores and pimples and other blemishes. It is prone to blackheads. The great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

It is recommended to use a light, oil free face cream before applying foundation…

Nornal/Combination skin is a combination of both oily and dry skin. There is a greasy center panel consisting of nose, forehead and chin and a dry panel consisting of cheeks, mouth and the areas around the eyes. This type of skin is very common, and it should be treated as if it were two different types of skin

I know it can get so confusing when you decided to start experimenting with makeup and decide to purchase foundation.   I decided to share some tips that I ask clients when they are interested in purchasing my foundations….

First, what type of skin do you have?  Naturally, every one has a different skin type.   Some of the variations of skin are normal, combination, oily, and dry. It is essential to know what type you have because the artist can find what foundation works with your skin… Since, foundations have various ingredients in the product, you would not like to purchase an extreme wear foundation that has an oil base and you have oily skin (example). Your skin will look oily throughout the day….

Secondly, what is your lifestyle? I know Ladies, it sounds really strange, but this is really important. If you are a mother of three beautiful toddlers, I know you do not have time to apply a foundation that involves a lot of detail…I wouldn’t want to  do that to you Mommies!!! People with a very busy, hectic, lifestyle usually want something quick, simple application, and convenient. We would not want you to purchase something that you would never have time to use.

Lastly, what type of finish would you like? Some women like to have a dewy finish on their skin, some women like to have a matte finish, and some would like to have a long-wearing foundation. Learning what type of finish you would like would make your life much easier when shopping for a foundation, also, it can assist the sales associate to find a foundation that is suitable for your needs…

When finding your personal makeup style, you should have fun, be educated, and be satisfied…

Don’t you hate when you are in a rush applying your makeup and pull out your Mascara and realize the tube is dry as bread??  You can add a drop of baby oil in that mascara tube.  It will apply mascara on to your lashes as if you purchased a new tube of mascara!!!  As a makeup Guru, I have learned so may tricks that have helped me in many cases, such as on set or at fashion shows that I would love to share with everyone….Mascara adds dimension to your eyes…it is always recommended to add your mascara after you apply your eye makeup for a clean finished look, and for fuller, thicker lashes, apply two coats of mascara from the top of your lashes (by looking down and taking the mascara wand from the top of your lashes and pulling the wand outward) and the bottom (by looking up and applying the mascara, pulling from the bed of your lashes working the wand up).  Your lashes would look as if you got extensions on them….and speaking of, stay tuned for tips of eyelash extensions……

Don’t you hate when you are apply eyeshadow and you are looking fabulous, ready to start your great day..but by the middle of the day, you look in the mirror and you look as if you never applied anything on your eyes?!!  I know, it can be a very frustrating feeling, but here’s the tip….

Applying an eyeshadow base.  Eyeshadow base can be anything emollient product.  Emollient products are anything creamy, such as cream eyeshadow, concealers, or even foundations.  If you use a cream eyeshadow, make sure it is a light neutral color, or a color that is comparable to the eyeshadow that you are wearing for the day.  Reason for this,  you do not want to take away from the powder shadow that you will apply over the eyeshadow base..For example, if you are wearing a light pink eyeshadow on your lid, you can have a eyeshadow base that is light beige, off white, or even light pink.  Also, applying a little is always best.  To achieve that Fancy finish, apply just enough so your eyelid is covered fully, but not heavy..You should not be able to see alot of the cream color on your eye.  When your eyeshadow goes on top it should stick to the eyeshadow immediately.  For a more intense look, apply another coat of your eyeshadow color.  With this type of application, your eyeshadow should last the entire day.  Ladies, stay Fancy and Fabulous…
